It’s time for some good news and bad news. Good news; Mass Effect Andromeda has an expected release. Bad news; it’s schedule to release in early 2017.
The news was revealed by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. “We have a great year ahead”, said Jorgensen. “We’ve got our Battlefield first-person shooter game coming in the third quarter, and our third-party title that Respawn, our partner, built, it’s called TItanfall, it’s the second title that they brought into that brand. Both of those are first-person shooters and will be targeted around the fast, action-driven shooter market, as well as the strategy-driven market in that quarter. We have our Mirror’s Edge runner game this first quarter, and then we have Mass Effect, which is a sci-fi action game, in our fourth quarter. So big year ahead and we’re pretty excited.”
While this news will certainly disappoint Mass Effect fans expecting the game this year, at the same time it is nice to know that EA is willing to give the game the time it needs, and “early 2017″ is a much more solid release date than a “holiday 2016″. We’ll certainly hear more from EA about Mass Effect: Andromeda at E3 this year.
