“Game of Thrones” Season Five Will Not Have Bran

The storyline with Bran, Hodor and the rest of the gang has surpassed where they need to be in the HBO based series. Since this is so, the show runners have confirmed that he will not be in the upcoming season. David Benioff, the Game of Thrones show runner came forth and explained the absence from the upcoming season which should hopefully air early spring of 2015.

All that’s Epic: Bran not returning with Hodor and gang?

“Ideally that wouldn’t have gotten out and it’s unfortunate it did. The fact is, even though we’re making changes to the books and adapting as necessary, we’re trying to keep the various storylines the same as the books and trying to keep them roughly [chronologically] parallel. And last year we caught up to the end of Bran’s storyline [in George R.R. Martin’s most recent A Song of Ice and Fire novel, A Dance with Dragons]. So if we pushed him forward this season, then he’s way ahead of where the other characters are.

It made sense to stop where we did. He’s now entering a training period which is going to take quite some time, much of which isn’t particularly cinematic. So rather than being stuck in a cave for a year, we figured it would be interesting to leave him out for a little bit.”

Basically, all the stories should be going forth on cue, but Bran’s storyline was taking a leap ahead into other books that possibly shouldn’t have happened. When there is a team trying to adapt the book series into television, it’s important to take all of the important information and use it to keep fans wanting more. Wenches and mead are not the only things that do the trick and that snarky three-eyed raven may not be returning either.

Season five will draw upon George R.R. Martin’s fifth book, “A Dance with Dragons” and those story lines from the fourth book will have some catching up to do.

“Game of Thrones” was recently renewed for season 6, with some cast also signed for season 7. There is a lot of speculation as to the seventh season being its last so we will really have to wait and see.
