TikTok Cosplay Goes Viral With Disney VFX Video

Student filmmaker Julian Bass caught the attention of Disney CEO Bob Iger

During these unique times, one cannot help but finds things to do in order to express their creative outlet. If you do, you may just go viral just like 20-year-old Julian Bass. The Georgia State student posted a viral video on Tiktok in which he cosplayed the Jedi Knight, Spiderman and Ben 10. The video was set to Harry Styles’ hit song “Watermelon Sugar”.

During his social media post, Bass proceeded to shoot his shot at Disney indirectly as he jokingly requested for folks to retweet enough times so that Disney couldn’t help but notice. Well, there was no way that Disney could ignore the video’s 10,000,000 page views and 650,000 retweets. Disney CEO Bob Iger sent the following tweet to Bass: “The world’s gonna know your name.”

The video’s popularity seemingly got everybody’s attention in Hollywood. It attracted the attention of Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. Gunn was then challenged by Zach Braff to give Bass a job. MSNBC host Joy Reid also gave the video some love. In addition, the video got the attention of the American comedy trio the Lonely Island Guys as well as Sony’s Twitter account.

Bass’s fame has risen quickly since his video went viral on July 2nd. He has had interviews with GMA as well as other media channels. Louis D’Esposito, a co-president of Marvel has even reached out to him. Needless to say, it has been quite an adjustment period for the emerging filmmaker.

Julian Bass is another example of the power of going viral in this digital age. In 20 seconds, this Tiktok cosplayer’s life may have changed forever.
