Crossbones, the dastardly villain from the comics, makes his on screen debut in Captain America Civil War. The first high res profile images comes from Empire magazine’s upcoming exposé on the film.
It’s been difficult to imagine how Crossbones will fit into the film with all the infighting among the Avengers going on. Previously released synopses have led fans to believe that the movie will begin with an inciting incident that prompts the Superhero Registration act. Crossbones and Daniel Bruhl’s Barron Zemo may be involved in that opening.
On the other hand, his biggest claim to fame in the comics was that he actually assassinated Cap in the 2007 death of Captain America arc. It’s anybody’s guess if Marvel will actually follow through on that thread.
Crossbones will be played by Frank Grillo, who appeared as the mundane adversary Brock Rumlow in Captain America Civil War. Remember the last guy in the elevator scene who tried to take Cap out? Yeah that guy. Brock Rumlow takes up the grim alias Crossbones after barely surviving the events of Winter Soldier.
There’ll be more than enough for Steve Rogers to deal with in Captain America Civil War, premiering May 6th.
