The man penning the phenomenal A Song of Ice and Fire Series, George R. R. Martin, announced on his live journal Monday that he will be skipping San Diego Comic-Con this year. In actuality, the announcement was included as more of an aside to the more personally regrettable announcement for Martin that he decided to skip World Fantasy Convention in Saratoga this year.
Since SDCC is unquestionably the more widely known and visible convention of the two it gets the headline, I suppose.
“(Should I complete and deliver WINDS OF WINTER before these cons roll round, I reserve the right to change my mind).”
….huh? Really? Is that feasible George? I mean I wouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth, but the latest from A Song of Ice and Fire publisher HarperCollins is that there were no plans to release Winds of Winter in 2015. However, HarperCollins is going to publish an illustrated collection of the official prequel novellas The Hedge Knight, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight in Octorber, called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
I guess we’ll just have to keep waiting, patiently.
