Amidst the plethora of zombie apocalypse themed games to come out in the past few years, Dead Island has stood on it’s own, bringing team co-op gameplay similar to Left 4 Dead across a multitude of systems and platforms. In the latest installment, Dead Island 2, developer Deep Silver is turning to the fans to help decide what to include in the Collector’s Edition of the game.

Fans will have until July 14th to decide among the various options including art books, character figures, beach towels, sunglasses, a backpack, DLC and other digital content, to more unique choices such as back scratchers, alarm clocks, a zombie-themed California flag, golden zombie “Oscar” statue, and among particular interest is the option for “a real zombie,” whatever that means.

With the age of collector’s editions being all the rage, developers often struggle to offer the fans something that really grabs the owner’s attention. Previous content for Dead Island: Riptide included a torso statue, which turned some heads with its dismembered head, arms, etc. to the point of causing some controversy and backlash, so this is an interesting step for the team to take to give the fans exactly what they want. Hopefully the real zombie option is mostly a joke, or else we may just end up finding ourselves in our own tropical zombie apocalypse.
