The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launched in late 2011, and since then it has been continuously improved upon in the hands the modding community. There have been numerous patches to update graphics, fix bugs, and create new content. A new notable tweak involves the game accessing higher amounts of memory, which has already opened the doors for some truly amazing additions. With the game being able to draw upon more memory, it can render more objects on screen at a time, such as 300 NPCs doing battle without the game crashing.

On the ENB forum, a use by the name “Sheson” is the creative force behind the newest mod. In a forum post, he explains how it works by stating, “When test.exe is started it allocates two 256MB blocks of memory. When the first block gets full, the engine will allocate more blocks. This can cause the known troubles. Thankfully, by telling the engine to request a bigger block from the start it magically makes use of it without any further ado. This isn’t the case with the second block. Thankfully again, the second block does not fill up as quickly and once it’s full, the engine does not trip over itself when allocating more blocks”.
