Many successful shows have spin offs, which can either be detrimental or good for the show. It was recently announced that “The Walking Dead” will be the next series to welcome a spin-off. The new show, which will premiere sometime in 2015, will complement the original show with Rick, Daryl and the rest of the gang. While “The Walking Dead” focuses on the zombie apocalypse, this new series will bring something completely new to the table and what it is, we do not know. Or do we?

Robert Kirkman will executive produce the spin-off, along with AMC studios. We are still in the dark when it comes to the cast and the plot, and being in the dark could be a bad thing…at least when you are fighting off hordes of relentless zombies.

“Building on the success of the most popular show on television for adults 18-49 is literally a no-brainer,” said AMC president and general manager Charlie Collier. “We look forward to working with Robert, Gale and Dave again as we develop an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse.”

Creator Robert Kirkman also had something to say about the new series that they are planning. “After 10 years of writing the comic book series and being so close to the debut of our fourth, and in my opinion, best season of the TV series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of The Walking Dead universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”

A “Walking Dead” spinoff shouldn’t kill off the show anytime soon, but will hopefully hold its hand and provide a completely different perspective for the fans of the series.

“The Walking Dead” season 4 premieres on AMC on Sunday, October 13.
