SDCC 2014: Guardians of the Galaxy Sequel Writer Already Confirmed
Guardians of the Galaxy is still a few days out from seeing its theatrical release, but the writer for the second installment has already been confirmed. It seems all the buzz around the first movie got writer James Gunn wanting more, and it appears that Marvel does too. It’s no secret that Gunn wanted to continue with the series, already expressing his desire for a follow-up but it seems that Marvel was the one keeping the possibility of a follow up on stand by. While some might assume that it was Marvel or Gunn himself that confirmed he would be coming back for the second movie, it was actually co-writer Nicole Perlman.
Now, there’s no official announcement just yet seeing as Marvel is probably waiting for solid numbers to go off of when Guardians of the Galaxy releases. “They started to figure it out pretty quick when they started getting the reactions from the audience; it was a very positive reaction,” Perlman unveiled to the official site. “Of course they would want to make a sequel as long as it does well and people are excited about it, they’ll wanna do a sequel. So, it’s going to happen. James will be directing ‘Guardians 2,’ so he would also be writing ‘Guardians 2.” Perlman also stated that, “Feige confirmed that Gunn would direct a sequel should Marvel move forward with one.”
