Jason Voorhees Announced for Mortal Kombat X as Well as a Delay for PS3 and Xbox 360
The brutally gory sequel to the reboot of the classic fighting series, Mortal Kombat X, has received some good news and some bad news today. First the good news. The first DLC character has been announced and it’s Jason Voorhees. For those of you living under a rock Jason Voorhees in the main character of the Friday the 13th series of slasher films, which was arguably one of the most pioneering and influential films on the genre. Jason will be one of four DLC characters included in the Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack which seems to be developer Netherealm’s way of saying “We want a season pass but we don’t want to call it a season pass because people seem kinda burnt out on those.” The pack will be include in the Kollector’s, Limited, and Premium Editions of the game or can be bought separately for $29.99.
Either way the Kombat pack will include a samurai costume pack on the games launch day and Jason Voorhees will be the first character unlocked in the pack. The other three characters have yet to be confirmed but Netherealm did state that two will be returning Mortal Kombat characters and one will be a special guest from another series. Considering the Freddy Kreuger DLC for Mortal Kombat 9 and Jason being announced as the first DLC character for Mortal Kombat X I think it’s a safe bet to say it will be a classic horror film character. Personally I’m rooting for Michael Myers or Pinhead.
Now for the bad news. Warner Bros. Interactive stated in a recent interview with Videogamer that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game have been delayed to this summer. They went further to state that this will not affect the PS4, PC, and Xbox One version of the game which is set to launch on April 14th.
