The Division To Focus On Midtown Manhattan

Now that The Division is nearing release, fans are clamoring for details on just how big this new map is going to be, with Ubisoft claiming that the game represents a 1 to 1 recreation of New York City. Speaking with Examiner, The Division creative director Magnux Jansen stated that the specific area that the game will be set in will be Midtown Manhattan, despite the Brooklyn setting that was seen in the game’s original gameplay demo.

Jansen says, “For Tom Clancy’s The Division we are going with Midtown Manhattan. It is because of the 1 to 1 re-creation and the way the pandemic has [happened]. Basically, everything has been hit and there are no more resources because everyone tried to get out. There is no more gasoline in the cars, there is no traffic, you’re on foot.

“With the level of detail we have, doing Midtown Manhattan is a huge open-world experience and more than enough to sink your teeth into. It is a very sizable open-world game.”

Of course, we could always see new areas come up in DLC, but considering the level of detail seen in the game already, it looks like we’ll have plenty to play with. The Division is set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC this March 8, 2016.
