Upcoming Metal Gear Online Update To Change Respawning

Though we already knew that Quiet, the silent assassin in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, would be making her way to Metal Gear Online in March, what many may not realize is that a free update for the game will also be released at the same time the DLC goes live. But the update does more than prepare the game for Cloaked in Silence DLC, as Konami has revealed that the game’s spawning system will get see some massive changes.

As it stands now, in Metal Gear Online, if a player commits suicide or is lifted out of the battle with a Fulton (which basically kidnaps a player off the map as if they were killed), players can respawn anywhere on the battlefield in one of several spots. Once the update in March is live however, players will be limited to only respawn at their teams HQ, which Konami says will change how the Bounty Hunter mode is played, as using Fultons are an important part of that mode. In Comm Control mode, players will also no longer be able to spawn at contested points, with more spawn point being added around the map to prevent spawn camping as well.

Metal Gear Online is the free online component of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which is available now for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.
