Blizzard’s First Overwatch Short Focuses On The Simian Scientist Winston

Blizzard’s upcoming shooter, Overwatch, has just released its first animated short. The trailer goes above and beyond most trailers for backstories or teasers.

Blizzard’s animated short focuses on the backstory and some of the abilities of Winston, a simian scientist. It also shows pieces of the simian’s origin story and how he fits into the overall story of Overwatch. “Recall’ animated short takes place during an event called the Second Omnic Crisis. Torn between whether or not to reassembling Overwatch as a global police force; he makes the decision as he fights a group of masked soldiers and a skilled killer, Reaper.

It is rare for a AAA title to commit such time, effort, and storytelling prowess to an animated short, so our hats off to Blizzard for making such an awesome short for their upcoming game Overwatch. I am excited to see if more shorts like this come out.
