Great news Doom fans! Bethesda has just released a new trailer, which reveals what multiplayer modes will be available in the upcoming reboot!

In total, the Doom will feature six multiplayer modes that you can enjoy to your heart’s content! The following modes include:

  • Soul Harvest – Kill enemies to harvest souls
  • Freeze Tag – Freeze enemies and thaw allies
  • Warpath – Capture the moving zone
  • Clan Arena
  • Domination
  • Team Deathmatch

Soul Harvest shares a similar basic concept to that of Team Deathmatch, however, after each kill, the players are required to collect the soul of the dead player. Players of either team may reap the souls, but only opposing players’ souls count toward the score, similar to that of kill confirmed from the Call of Duty series. In Freeze Tag, instead of players being killed, they will turn frozen solid. In order to be unfroze, your teammates must stand nearby them for a certain period of time. If each member of your team is frozen entirely, then you lose automatically. Warpath shares the same format as king of the hill, except that the control point is a moving area. This area will traverse pits and deadly hazards, forcing teams to respond once it returns to safer ground. In order to win a match in this mode, the winning team is the one reaching a preset score or having the highest score when time expires.

The three other types are more traditional multiplayer modes found in many first-person shooters today! Domination, involves three capture points spread throughout the map in each match; Team Deathmatch where the team with the most kills wins; and last but not least Clan Arena, which is essentially an extreme deathmatch, where there are no pickups, no chance to restoring health or armor, and no respawning.

Doom will be available at retail stores on May 13th, 2016 for the PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One. The game will also have a closed multiplayer beta starting on March 31st for those who pre-ordered the game.
