Ubisoft Interested in THQ?

THQ did a nice job making friends with its Humble THQ Bundle before filing for bankruptcy on Wednesday. It’s hard not to feel bad about the company which seems destined to be bought out by french company Ubisoft. MCV has reported that, not only is Ubisoft interested in acquiring the company, it’s a  frontrunner. The article states that price is the main issue, but that Ubisoft is willing to wait to purchase specific properties until the asking price goes down. After all is said and done, Ubisoft would likely have the rights to Darksiders, Company of Heroes, Homefront, Red Faction, Saints Row and some WWE and Warhammer properties.

Ubisoft has made no secret of their desire to be the number one publisher on the market and picking up these titles would be a smart move for them going forward into the next generation of consoles. This could be a huge opportunity for Ubisoft and it’s something to watch going forward.
