Metal Gear Solid V marks the end of a legacy, the final game in the franchise to be created by the voice of it, Hideo Kojima. Through it, we’ve earned friends, enemies, seen characters grow over years and fight to make the world both a place where soldiers have purpose, as well as a place where soldiers aren’t needed at all.
In the first part of the launch trailer for Metal Gear Solid V, cut by Kojima himself, we not only go back in time, but we get a look forward at the latest Metal Gear that we’ll need to face off against in The Phantom Pain, which bears a striking resemblance to the Metal Gear Solid original, Metal gear REX (with the added bonus of a heat sword/whip.) Check out the first part of the launch trailer below, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is set for release this September 1st on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.
