The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Confirmed for Retail Release
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is set to receive a physical release courtesy of publishers Nordic Games, announced developers The Astronauts earlier today. We seen a sneak peak a while back with its first trailer and now word is that it will be releasing this year.
“The Vanishing of Ethan Carter immediately had the finger on our pulse,” said Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games. “We’re excited to be involved with this one-of-a-kind horror/mystery game and the atmosphere it conveys on screenshots and trailers already. To collaborate with The Astronauts is the icing on the cake.”
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was originally announced in February 2013 and is described as, “inspired by the weird fiction stories and other tales of macabre of the early 20th century.” The game aims to evolve immersive storytelling through compelling passive gameplay that allows gamers to experience the story at their own pace.
So far The Vanishing of Ethan Carter has only been confirmed for release on Windows PC, but The Astronauts have expressed a desire to bring the game to consoles somewhere down the line. The game is expected to launch in the third quarter of 2014 now in both retail and digital forms.
