Microsoft gets funky, real funky, as it includes a music app with its latest console. This ad-supported music app will be made available to all Xbox Live Gold members, for free. Though the app is considered ‘ad-supported’, users will only have to watch several ads a month, so no biggie. Microsoft revealed this news through their head of Product Planning, Albert Penello, in response to a question asked over Twitter.

Penello was asked “Do you know if you can use Xbox Music without music pass like on Windows 8.1 and music.xbox.com?”, and responded with “Yes. You don’t have to subscribe, but you will get periodic ads.” Although the Xbox Music feature on Windows 8.1 allows users to stream ad-supported music for free, users who stream music from their Xbox 360 need to purchase a subscription. It’s good to know that you won’t have to pay a separate music subscription for the Xbox One. The Xbox One is set to release in just a few weeks, on November 22nd. Stay tuned!
