Nintendo Reveals Digital File Size For Some Switch Games
If you plan on getting a Nintendo Switch at launch and were hoping to get some games digitally, you may want to plan right now. Nintendo has revealed the file sizes for some of the Switch’s games, and some of them are going to take a bite out of the system’s memory.
For reference, the Nintendo Switch support 32 GB of memory on it’s own, with about 25 GB left over when you account for the system’s OS. You can also buy micro SD cards that are 32 GB or bigger, though higher storage ones can cost up to $100 dollars. With that out of the way, here’s how much space some a couple of these titles will take:
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – 13.4GB
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 7+GB
- Puyo Puyo Tetris – 1.09GB
- Disgaea 5 – 5.92GB
- Snipperclips – 1.60GB
- I Am Setsuna – 1.4GB
- Dragon Quest Heroes I & II – 32GB
- Nobunaga’s Amibition – 5GB
Yikes. While we’ve know about the file size for Breath of the Wild for awhile now, Dragon Quest Heroes 1 & 2 won’t be able to download at all on the new system unless you get a new microSD card, which again, could cost you up to $100. Now granted, that game is a launch title in Japan and not North America, so maybe something will change during when we get it, assuming we get it at all. Additionally, the rest of them aren’t too bad (though I do wonder what that 7+ means for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe), and if you decide to go physical for your Switch games (which seems like the best way to go for now), you’ll be happy to know that the games run off the cartridges themselves and don’t require a download, unlike the PS4 and Xbox One.
The Nintendo Switch launches worldwide on March 3rd.
