This year’s Comic-Con International will pay tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy in a very visible way. Nimoy, who played the Human-Vulcan first officer Spock for nearly five decades, will be featured on the cover of the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 official event guide.

The minimalist, Spock-inspired cover art is the creation of artist Ty Mattson. In addition to gracing the cover of the official event guide, the image will be on display at the Michael J. Wolf Gallery as part of the “Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years” art exhibit. The exhibit, which features works by 50 separate artists from 10 countries around the world, will also showcase one of Nimoy’s last pieces of photographic art. Nimoy passed away in 2015.

San Diego Comic-Con runs July 21 through July 24. Be sure to check back for our complete convention coverage!
