Frank Miller’s Ronin and Oni Press’ Letter 44 To Get Syfy TV Series

TV comic book adaptations are all the rage these days. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two latest comic series that are coming to the small screen are Frank Miller’s ‘Ronin’ and Oni Press’s ‘Letter 44’, both of which are getting adapted by the Syfy network.

‘Ronin’ is set to be a miniseries and centers around a dishonored 13th century samurai who seeks vengeance for his murdered master. Both he and the demon responsible are reincarnated in the futuristic, corrupt 21st century New York. Since it will probably be the mid-2010s before the series may air, the creators will certainly have to make an artistic choice about how to present the comic’s vision of the future, which was originally published by DC comics in 1983-4. While the search for a writer is still underway, this would be the first time that any of Frank Miller’s material would be adapted to TV.

Syfy is also turning Charles Soule’s ongoing ‘Letter 44’ into a regular series with Jonathan Mostow set to pen the script, exec produce and direct the pilot. The series follows US President Stephen Blades who discovers an ominous letter from his predecessor detailing a top secret mission by NASA. Their team of astronauts are about to return from their exploration of an alien construct in the asteroid belt.

We’ll be sure to bring you more details on these exciting series as they surface!
