Killer Instinct’s Shadow Lords Mode Is Out Now

Good news, Killer Instinct fans! After months of waiting, the game’s new single player story mode, Shadow Lords, is out.

The setup for this new mode (which is free for everyone by the way) is simple: longtime series villain Gargos is invading Earth. It’s up to you to pick a main character and two secondary characters to take Gargos’ forces before ultimately facing off against Gargos himself. According to Iron Galaxy, the mode is infinitely replayable, and will wrap up Season 3.

In addition to a new mode, Shadow Lords adds a brand new loot system, where fighting and winning fights will award players with new materials, which players can use to craft rare items. Likewise, you can also use KI gold to unlock those items as well.

Killer Instinct is available now for the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs. In addition to this new update, Killer Instinct: Definitive Edition is also available. For $40, this version of the game will give you everything that has been unlocked so far, including the characters from Season 3, such as General RAAM from Gears of War, the Arbiter from Halo, and Rash from Battletoads, as well as a Gold costume for Gargos.
