Themes Of Mass Effect Andromeda’s Plot Revealed By BioWare

BioWare has revealed some new details about the plot of Mass Effect Andromeda. While he doesn’t reveal the whole plot of the game, producer Michael Gamble does reveal what were the inspirations for the game’s plot.

“The premise is about galactic exploration,” Gamble said in an interview with OPM U.K. (via PlayStation Universe). “It’s much like modern day Elon Musk-ism, which is: ‘I wonder if we can get here? I wonder if we can do that?” This isn’t the first time that the team has discussed the importance of exploration, as creative director Mac Walters recently revealed that the game would have much more verticality and an emphasis on exploration.

“Andromeda is a human story, but much like on Earth where we would have people from all walks of life join these expeditions, the same thing happens in the Milky Way—all different types of races join this expedition, and we do it as one concerted effort as opposed to separate people doing separate things”, Gamble continued. “We do so because we know it won’t be easy on the other side. Everyone is doing this for the common good and for the same reason, which is: ‘Let’s find somewhere else to go.'”

It’s certainly an interesting and more positive message, one that is familiar to long time Star Trek fans like myself. We’ll see how it all comes together when Mass Effect Andromeda releases next year for the PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One.
