Next Wave Of Super Smash Bros. Amiibo Are Releasing Next March

During the final Nintendo Direct that centered on Super Smash Bros., some brand new info for the next wave of amiibo was revealed. Mainly, when they would be released.

These three new amiibo will release on March 18th, 2016 (an early birthday present to myself). The three amiibo this time will be the Famicom R.O.B., which is his default color scheme in the Japanese (and one that I think looks better), DLC character Roy, from Fire Emblem and a veteran from Super Smash Bros. Melee, and finally third party DLC character Ryu, from the popular fighting game series Street Fighter. Though it’s unknown whether Ryu or R.O.B. will be retailer exclusive, it has been said that Roy will be a Gamestop exclusive. Of course even if he isn’t, I would still recommend picking up at the very least importing Roy and Ryu from Japan. In my experience, it may be a bit more pricey, but considering that many of the Fire Emblem characters are ridiculously dirt cheap in Japan right, it’s safe to say that might be the best way to get Roy when he comes out. Same goes with Ryu; R.O.B. on the other is pretty easy to find, so he shouldn’t be too hard to find here (though if you have to import him, he’s pretty cheap too).

The newest Super Smash Bros. is available now for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. As a reminder, recently revealed characters Cloud, Corrin, and Bayonetta, will also be getting amiibo as well, much like how previous DLC characters got an amiibo, though no official release date for these figures was revealed. And since they’re the last characters being added to the roster, they’re also going to be the last characters that are a part of the Super Smash Bros. line of amiibo. What a bittersweet moment.
