Sony Is Open To Cross Platform Play With Other Consoles

Recently Microsoft released a statement saying that they would be open to the idea of cross-platform play to other consoles beyond the PC and Windows 10. This development put Microsoft in a very interesting position in that they have the ability to make true cross-platform play a reality.

Their competitors now have the difficult position of accepting their proposal and moving towards a future where PlayStation players and Xbox players could possibly play together on the same server, or they deny their proposal and continue with the separation between consoles and gamers. While Nintendo hasn’t commented on the proposal Sony has. When speaking to GameSpot Sony said “PlayStation has been supporting cross-platform play between PC on several software titles starting with Final Fantasy XI on PS2 and PC back in 2002. We would be happy to have the conversation with any publishers or developers who are interested in cross platform play.”

Obviously, nothing is set right now. But based on what Sony’s saying, a future where gamers can play with each other online regardless of console is looking more and more likely by the day.
