There’s A Reason Why Xbox One Backwards Compatible Games Take So Long To Come Out

The Xbox One has a lot of backwards compatible games, but there are still some big games that haven’t been added. And according to Xbox head Phil Spencer, there’s a very good reason for that.

When asked by a fan on Twitter on why some games have taken longer than others to get released, Spencer responded, “Most of the work on BC at this point is approvals and just playing through the game to make sure it performs as expected.” An obvious answer for sure, but at the same time it’s nice to know that Microsoft wants these games to be the best that they can be. It would also possibly explain why games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II, which is really popular and highly requested, still haven’t been added.

Additionally, this might also be why it seems a bit random for games to be added to the service. Originally, games would be announced on a weekly basis, but after awhile this was changed so that the games would be made available based on when they were cleared.
