Tron:Legacy Sequel Already in the Works?

According to Harry Knowles, from Ain’t It Cool News, a follow up to TRON: Legacy is certain. Since the film has pulled in over $300 million around the world, it should not come as a surprise if Disney orders follow up. Even though the movie didn’t live up to box office expectations and failed to get great reviews, it did have its moments. The special effects were well done as expected, as were the action sequences. Taken in its entirety, though, Tron: Legacy was a bit of a let down. Nevertheless, the film made a fortune in both ticket sales and merchandise and in show business these days, that’s all you need to get the studio interested in a sequel.

In the article, Knowles was quoted as saying:

“As kids around the country pulled out wall crawling light trail leaving Tron LIGHT CYCLES from under their Christmas trees, Disney has been counting the receipts – and I’m told… it’s about to hit the tipping point. Now the real question is… Where does TRON go from here? There is a plan, but it is being closely guarded.”
