“Zombieland” Receives Green Light From Amazon Studios”

It has been a project in the works and well worth the wait, especially with “The Walking Dead” closing up shop until next season. Amazon has been working to create a series based off the “Zombieland” film, and it looks like it may happen.

Amazon has put the pilot for the show in the works and “Zombieland” stands at number seven on the list out of lucky thirteen. Out of all thirteen pilots, there are six other comedy pilots (“Zombieland” makes 7) and six children’s shows that have all received the green light.

How soon can we see “Zombieland” thanks to Amazon Prime? That will actually depend on the viewers who vote on Amazon Instant Video and LOVEFiLM UK. Customers are more than welcome to hop onto the site and vote for their favorite pilot, and the winners will get to start production on their full seasons. Does it cost anything? No.

“‘Zombieland’ is a fan favorite and we can’t wait to see where this story line goes in a serialized format, said Roy Price, Director of Amazon Studios. “We’ve been announcing a lot of exciting exclusive content for Prime Instant Video, like ‘Downton Abbey,’ ‘Under the Dome,’ and ‘Justified,’ and we think adding original shows to that lineup is going to make Prime even more enticing for customers.”

Tallahassee will be played by Kirk Ward (“The Island”), Maiara Walsh as Wichita, (“Desperate Housewives”), Tyler Ross as Columbus (“Milkshake”) and Izabela Vidovich as Little Rock.

As far as the plot, “Zombieland” is based off the film from Columbia Pictures and finds four survivors trying to beat out the zombies all the while searching for a place to call home. The pilot comes from writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick along with producer Gavin Palone and Eli Craig directing the pilot.
