It’s official! Doctor Who will not have a panel this year at San Diego Comic Con, which could mean fewer fish fingers and less custard in the Hall H line this year. But not to worry; Whovians still have plenty to choose from for the duration of the Con.

On June 10th, BBC America and BBC Worldwide announced the world tour for Doctor Who, which will land in New York City on August 14. “Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will appear together for the first time in the US when they arrive in New York”. This will result in a problem since San Diego Comic Con is from July 24-27, which means that Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman will be traveling for the tour at that time. Also noteworthy, when Matt Smith became the Doctor back in 2010, the Doctor Who panel was also not scheduled.

A representative for BBC has confirmed to SDCC Blog that the Time Lord will not be making an appearance in San Diego this year. This doesn’t mean that the Doctor has left us completely in the dark. We’re pretty sure there will still be plenty of booths with merchandising and awesome swag – not to mention some amazing Doctor Who themed cosplay – just no panel.

There is sure to be more Doctor Who news floating around in time and space, so we will be sure to keep you posted!
