Is a “Game of Thrones” Prequel in the Works?
Ever since George R.R. Martin signed a two-year development deal with HBO earlier this year, rumors have been swirling about a possible “Game of Thrones” prequel. At the time, there was reference to “new series projects for the network”. In a recent interview with IGN, the prolific author was asked about the possibility of a GoT-related project. Check out the video below.
If Martin’s new HBO series is a prequel, it would presumably be based on his “A Song of Ice and Fire” prequel novellas: “Tales of Dunk and Egg”. Like the “Game of Thrones” series, the books take place in Westeros, but about 100 years earlier.
Martin didn’t spill too many details about his new development projects when questioned, except to say that he would be working on dramas, not comedies. According to his comments, though, a prequel seems completely within the realm of possibility. Other ideas being tossed around for development include a sci-fi series and a historical drama from another time period.
What do you think? Do you want to watch a “Game of Thrones” prequel?

I would totally love love love this. The only issue i find with the series is that they could have spread it out more. There is so much that isn’t being covered. Season one should have been three seasons long. There was no rush to cram so much in a single season! Maybe take a page from The Hobbits book. I would at least like if they’d drag the remainder out a little longer.
There is no such thing as too much Game of Thrones.
